The Wall

Knoxville, Tennessee Professor Marshall Prado Fall 2021

The project is located in Knoxville, Tennessee on 531 S Gay street which has a building already located on it. Community is a big theme within the site because of the location being in downtown Knoxville.

The concept of this design is public private and private public space. The design is a thin wall wrapped around the pre existing building. On the side exposed to the public realm is all of the housing program being pushed out and exposed to each other. The housing program is meant to combine the idea of private public space in the relationship between you and surrounding units. The idea of the terrace will be most valuable in this program because of the two conflicting variables. On the contrary the public private space consists of circulation within the building, a public act being tucked away on the backside of the building.
